Still Flying

“It was really hard for certain parts of the media to let that go. They love to portray women as dying things. It’s romantic, right? We don’t tell that story about men but we tell it about Billie Holiday, Rickie Lee Jones. The fall of the rose…” — Rickie Lee in Vanity Fair (via jsmooth995)

“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” —

Advice so simple it just might work from Micheal Pollan.

The video for Mika's new single, "Rain" -

I absolutely love Mika, but this is just a bit weird.  Not sure if it’s weird in a good way, either. :P

Apparently being honest and clear is now "just bitchy enough". -

And here I thought I’d left my really angsty days behind, but asking my friends to pitch in their fair share when we go out is “bitchy”- but just enough to make life easier for me.  Thanks, Cosmo!

Felicia Day writes more than 140 characters about Vanity Fair -

Great blog about a recent Vanity Fair article that poked fun at top women in social media, including Day.  ‘Cause, y’know, she’s an idiot who uses Twitter.  An idiot who writes, produces, and acts in her own highly successful Web series.

Christening the new blog (and trying out all the features) with a picture of my silly cats.

Christening the new blog (and trying out all the features) with a picture of my silly cats.

First post of the decade- and on the new blog.

I’m thrilled to have my domain pointed towards a free host with totally awesome themes, except that then causes me to waste 20 minutes looking through all of them and finding tiny things wrong with each and every one of them.

I’m sure at some point I’ll go, “gah! sparkles!” (and I will say, I’m not digging the weird shadow to the right of this post.  Maybe something’s supposed to go there?) and come up with something other than what I’ve got going now, but I better just post now and go be productive in the real world instead.

“If we listened to our intellect we’d never have a love affair. We’d never have a friendship. We’d never go in business because we’d be cynical: “It’s gonna go wrong.” Or “She’s going to hurt me.” Or,”I’ve had a couple of bad love affairs, so therefore …” Well, that’s nonsense. You’re going to miss life. You’ve got to jump off the cliff all the time and build your wings on the way down.” — Ray Bradbury
